Wanted to give you some tips from earlier episodes but didn't know if you would quit or not - you were in pain several times 😂 So, it's gonna be a long post and i will try to sum it up as best as i can. Game mechanics: 1) when resting use the heal as well. While armor is good just for defenders and champions, health is useful for all your party. 2) if you have an enemy near your ranged heroes they will do a lot less dmg when they attack. 3) you cannot apply poison or fire if you just remove armor with your attack. You need to damage their health for the dot to apply. Characters: use them for what they are intended to do. For ex you were using Balin (the rogue/vanguard) the same way Finn from starwars was using a light saber - like a shovel. It was best if you sneaked him and killed the archers and finished the summon totem. So: 1) defenders: don't get damage on them, at least not early to mid game. Get hp and armor plus support skills like shield dash or stigma. They just have to tank... 2) champions are exactly behind your defender and you need AP and dmg for them and just a bit of survivability. Try and get aoe skills for them too like cleave and earthshaker. 3) mages: aoe and hexes all the way. Death hex and slow are great. Items with hex intensity. Keep Ector and focus on his aoe! 4) marksmen: damage and dots plus 1 movement ability - dash - to get out if needed. 5) vanguards: dmg and backstab damage talents plus items. Also the talent that makes you harder to detect. 6) sages: mostly support talents and a bit of backstabbing- you will need teleport on them. For a party combo you can go with a defender, vanguard or champ, marksman and a sage - this would be best for the rightful Christian path you are taking. Also, you will reach a point where you will have full hero slots and get i recommend you keep only those that have a good reputation with you as the bonuses are massive. As a last thought keep playing as the enemies will get more varied and you will enjoy the challenge. A fan of playing on the highest difficulty but not the roguelight mode tough... Best of luck!

The lack of health packs and the checkpoints being so few and far between is ridiculous

You can turn off inverted controls, it's in preferences, and there are no health packs in story mode, only body armor.

This game was so hard right away at least it had co-op but 1 person dies game over

Just a tip: A good eco for late game will have 40 farmers, 40 lumberjacks and 20 miners. eventually you turn the miners in to lumberjacks and farmers for 50/50 I usually have between 120 and 135 villagers by the time i hit imperial. Hit castle age, make 2 tcs, 1 goes to wood, 1 goes to food, 1 goes to stone and then gold. TC shouldnt stop production, eventually you might have to kill a few miners when theres no mines left. NEVER STOP TC PRODUCTION UNTIL YOUR POP MAXES OUT kill villagers as necessary later, you can never have too much eco gunpowder units can be countered by Italians condotierro, if you dont have an italian ally, you can make knights, or skirmishers en masse. make 10 stables barracks and archery range. with the aformentioned eco, you can keep all of those buildings producing trash units in a steady stream. Your AI ally will always suck, you will have to powerhouse. scouts are a good counter to gunpowder as well. one thing i noticed is far to few military production buildings. in castle age you should have 3 buildings for your primary unit. 2 for the secondary unit. in imperial you can make as many as u have wood for.
